Friendships are important, and your guidance and monitoring of activities are needed for your child to be safe. As children grow, friendships take on new meanings. The friends your child hangs around deeply influence his/her thinking & acting patterns so we must play an active role in ensuring they are around the right people
1.Start with asking your child to list what qualities make a good friend. For example, someone who shares toys, someone who doesn’t yell, etc. This can increase with complexity depending on your child’s age.
2. Ask your child to name 3 of his best friends and ask why he/she thinks they are his best friends.
3. Make them use the craft supplies to make a card for all 3. (if time restraints, you can choose to make for 1 or how many numbers that your child wishes to). While the design & content of the card is totally u to your child (let him put his/her creative hat on!!), make it mandatory for him/her to write down the following line : Thank you for _________.
4. Make your child give these cards to those he/she has made them for.
5. This is the most important part of the activity. Ask your child how he/she felt after giving those cards. Did it feel good? Why?
