Grandparents day 2021 | Children interview their Grandparents

Grandparents have lived through so many experiences and sometimes we wish we could spend days on end listening to all that they have to say. There are a lot of things we know about them; they love giving us their blessings, never say no for a request to eat ice-cream, and love feeding us food!

But - they have so much more to tell us, and as we live our busy lives, we sometimes forget that. It is important for us as parents to ensure that our children spend enough time with their grandparents and embrace all the time they have together. After all, if it weren’t for them, where would our kids be today?

In honor of grandparents day yesterday, we have put together a few questions that you can make your child ask his/her grandparent(s). It can be in the form of an interview. Yes, these questions seem like a lot, but I’m sure you know how much the quality time and narrating these stories will mean to the grandparents. What better way to spend grandparents day, than to honor and listen to all that they have been through in their lives and sending them back in time to relive their good old days?

Ask your child to schedule an interview with any or both the grandparents.

Then make sure he/she goes with either a notebook and pen (if old enough to write), or with all ears open and asks the following questions.

Questions:

1)Who was your best friend when you were a kid and what did you love to do together?

2)Tell me about the house where you grew up

3)What was your favorite food growing up?

4)Tell me about the day we first met each other.

5)What were your parents like? Who was the stricter one?

6)If you could go back to being any age you wish, what age would you be?

7)What were some silly things that my mom/dad did when they were my age?

8)Were you a naughty child? What are some things that annoyed your parents?

9)How were you in school? What did your teachers have to say about you?

10)Did you have a nickname when you were my age?

11)What’s your favorite family recipe that your mom cooked for you?

12)What was your favorite holiday tradition/destination?

13)Tell me about the neighborhood where you grew up

14)Did you have a favorite toy when you were my age?

15)What’s the best thing about being a grandparent?
