A fun way to empower the good within your child | Happy Dussehra

Materials required: An effigy of ravan (can be found at any toy store), balls or any toy to hit the ravan with

Ages: 3 years & above

Time required: 30-40 minutes

Objective: To make your child self aware of their negative qualities and to show them how good always wins over evil

The significance of making or buying a model/sculpture of Ravana and shooting it is promising oneself to destroy all the bad qualities from within himself or herself.

The effigy of Ravana symbolizes all the bad qualities.

Ask your child to make a note of all their bad qualities, weaknesses, the times they have lied or behaved badly. Make it as age appropriate depending on your child’s age.

Next, either make or buy a sculpture/balloon/toy of Ravana and get a simple bow and arrow or small toy balls that is available in any toy shop.

Place the Ravana toy together and tell your child that all the bad qualities that he/she has written about is what the Ravana symbolizes. Gather your family members and give everyone a chance to shoot it one-by-one.

Before you start this game do not forget to teach your children the significance of this activity. Teach them that by doing this, your child is shooting away all his/her evil, and negative qualities and from now on he/she must focus on their positives and feed those inner qualities more than the bad.
